John Carlson, SEA

Carlson had an odd year last year for a TE on a team with few passing options. Looks like he is showcasing his stuff to the new coaches. With the new TEs and possible double TE sets, Carlson could cause problems in the secondary.

Carlson was quietly one of the most consistent TEs last year with 8 games of 7+ FP (fantasy points). Now it is looking like that chemistry is even stronger, making him a great sleeper in '09.

I agree with the idea of waiting on TEs in the draft, especially this year, but I would keep a close eye on Carlson during training camp to see what his role will be. The main reason he got so many targets last year was because there was no one on the field to throw to. With the Housh signing and Branch & Burleson returning, it makes me wonder how the targets will be spread around.

Yeah, those are the kind of TEs that I try to draft. I prefer getting depth at RB and WR early in the draft and get an average dependable TE that'll get decent points. I bet SEA's offense has to improve this year over last year anyways, which makes Carlson a decent play.
