Sanchez gets help today as the Jets just acquired Santonio Holmes from the Steelers. This is a slight bump for Mark, but he is still no better than a QB2 -- this is a run-first offense with a mediocre QB.

Jets QB Mark Sanchez, who underwent knee surgery this past February, fully expects to be ready for training camp this summer. "I'll absolutely be 100 percent by training camp and be ready to go for the season," Sanchez said. While Sanchez hasn't resumed running yet, he's practically been living at Jets headquarters this offseason, rehabbing his knee and watching film.

The "poise" hype around Sanchez took a hit this week, but people were getting a bit too excited anyway. He'll still be a decent backup option this season, just not as good as some thought.

Despite an uneven performance in the last preseason game againt the Ravens, Jets headooach Rex Ryan endorsed rookie Mark Sanchez as his opening day starter. Ryan stated that Sanchez gives the Jets 'Their best chance to win'. Certainly when the alternative is Kellen Clemens, that is probably the case.

Apparently the Jets didn't trade up to select Mark Sanchez at #5 in this year's draft to let him watch from the sidelines early this season. NY Daily News Rich Cimini estimates that Sanchez is the significant favorite to start over Kellen Clemens on opening-day.

Newsday gives Sanchez's first day at camp a thumbs up (surprising), but new coach Rex Ryan deems him a "natural leader" as he evidently got everyone together the night before to go over the 18 plays they were going to work on. Good start in Gotham.

Scenario 1: Start Sanchez Week 1 and keep the reigns tight just like the Ravens did with Flacco Scenario #2 - start Clemens, watch him play well, then be forced to keep Sanchez on the bench, franchise Clemens after the year and screw yourselfs over ala the Browns and DA/Quinn

Agreed, Sanchez is primarily keeper league material. Although, the Jets receivers are not all that terrible - Jerricho Cotchery, Dustin Keller, Chansi Stuckey, Brad Smith, David Clowney.

It sounds similar to the scouting report on him. Solid leadership skills. However, I still don't think he'll be a good fantasy QB. Just a solid, accurate passer.

Sanchez has a lot of pressure to succeed. I'm not planning to draft him though. He may be able to win games for the Jets, but with no receivers to throw to his fantasy value isn't very high.
