Shockingly, Smith had this to say about his situation in Carolina: "Well the thing is, everybody keeps saying a compliment receiver to complement me . . . I don't want anyone to complement me. I'm turning 31 years old, people can say I'm losing speed, yada, yada, yada. I would like a younger guy to come in and eventually take my spot. I don't want to be a #1 anymore." An NFL WR that doesn't want to be the focal point of his offense? This has fantasy red flag written all over it. The Panthers are without a 1st round pick this year and have virtually no other WRs on the roster capable of taking over #1 WR duties, so don't expect much of a shakeup to the Panthers receiving corps. But Smith's lack of vigor is certainly disheartening.

Submitted by brettbarclay
Source: www.draftsharks.comSteve Smithhttp://www.fantasyfootballchatter.com/steve-smith-1790Tue, 11 Aug 2009 18:22:12 -0400Smith hopes to be ready for Panthers opener

Submitted by Maven
Source: blogs.nfl.comSteve Smithhttp://www.fantasyfootballchatter.com/steve-smith-1771Tue, 11 Aug 2009 17:54:51 -0400Panthers star Smith in sling, but hopeful for Week 1

Submitted by Maven
Source: msn.foxsports.comSteve Smithhttp://www.fantasyfootballchatter.com/steve-smith-1766Tue, 11 Aug 2009 13:30:02 -0400Steve Smith injured his shoulder at practice. He avoided contact, but did individual drills. Seems to be recovering quickly from his injury.

Submitted by mel
Source: sports.yahoo.comSteve Smithhttp://www.fantasyfootballchatter.com/steve-smith-1803Tue, 11 Aug 2009 19:53:37 -0400That's a good sign. I guess I won't drop him in my rankings yet. Hopefully others will overreact.

Submitted by jacksonSteve Smithhttp://www.fantasyfootballchatter.com/steve-smith-1845Thu, 13 Aug 2009 21:59:40 -0400Not a big hit for Steve Smith's value, but this will be the second year in a row that he starts the season with questions. Will he ever have a quiet preseason again?

Submitted by fantasyfool
