Steve Smith, CAR

1
Steve Smith is back on the field at practice already. He avoided contact, but did individual drills. Seems to be recovering quickly from his injury.

Terrell Owens, BUF

1
Yeah, that really will be the key to Edwards' success. If he can keep TO happy w/ a 12 - 15 looks a game, they should be okay.

Donnie Avery, STL

Donnie Avery is out 4 to 6 weeks with a foot injury suffered in a recent scrimmage.

I'm targeting Pierre in my leagues this year. Could be a good steal.
Discuss

Knowshon Moreno, DEN

14
Knowshon Moreno is entering his 5th day of holdout. He's working out at the University of Georgia now and isn't really close to a deal yet. Any longer and it might affect his fantasy value this year.

Tom Brady, NE

I'll take Brady any day.
Discuss

Ben Watson, NE

3
Yeah, I thought Cassel would have targeted Watson more last year, but it just didn't happen. Maybe Brady will look his way more this year.

Derrick Mason, BAL

2
My two-cents: Mason comes back within a week.

Matt Cassel, KC

Cassel signs a 6-year deal with the Chiefs.

Braylon Edwards, NYJ

12
It's been reported that Braylon won't stretch the field as much this year. Instead he'll have more possession routes. Maybe that'll be a good thing for him as it should be easier for him to catch those short passes.

Brandon Marshall, DEN

2
Yeah, no reason for Denver to budge yet. I don't know if any other team is going to want to give up a lot for him. Is there any team that's really desperate for a WR?

Jason Witten, DAL

This article debates the top tight ends for this year and concludes that Witten is the best pick for 2009.

Greg Jennings just signed a contract that makes him the second-highest paid receiver in the NFL.

Donte' Stallworth, CLE

Good point. I'd like it if he was suspended at least for another 2 years.

Kyle Orton, DEN

Kyle Orton: The Next Great Fantasy QB? Perhaps. His value definitely gets a boots. Great, maybe not. In that offense, I'll still take him as a backup QB. Gotta see where Brandon Marshall ends up though.

Brandon Marshall, DEN

1
Not a good sign. I've gotta think that he's going to end up somewhere else. Maybe Chicago? :)

James Davis, CLE

2
That's good. I don't think Lewis is going to last the whole year at his age. Cleveland needs some extra help in the backfield.
Discuss

Brandon Jacobs, NYG

1
Yeah, it should be better than last year, but still a RBBC.

Vincent Jackson, SD

1
Yeah, he seems to get the short end of the stick since SD has a lot of other offensive options as well. I think the main problem with him fantasywise is that his upside isn't very high. LT/Sproles/Gates are always going to be the #1 producers there.
Discuss

Ray Rice, BAL

1
I agree. There's also been a report that McClain is moving to fullback which would be great for Rice. Rice is definitely a solid RB2/RB3 to look at.
Discuss

Brett Favre, MIN

4
Favre actually did have surgery on his biceps. Sounds like he's determined to play for the Vikings this year.

Felix Jones, DAL

Hmmm. Interesting. I don't think I'll take it, but it does have me thinking. Felix is currently going in the 7th round right now. If he were to come close to Barber that would be a steal.

Tom Brady, NE

Brady addressed the media for the first time since his season-ending injury. Says he's feeling good.

Pierre Thomas, NO

1
I think Thomas is going to stay in a limited role. He'll poach some TD's, but I don't know if his fantasy value is that great.

Peyton Manning, IND

1
I think that's a pretty good argument. I like the breakdown by yards, TDs, and QB rating.

Maurice Jones-Drew, JAC

MJD's value is probably as high as it ever will be. Jacksonville boosted their O-line in the draft. All's looking like a monster year for him.

He's going in 1.09 for 12-team drafts. I guess that sounds about right. Lots of upside.
Discuss

LaDainian Tomlinson, SD

1
Yeah, I don't know. The drop-off for elite RBs is pretty sharp. One day they're a stud, the next, nada. Shaun Alexander, Priest Holmes, etc.

Drew Bennett is visiting the Titans. Looks like there's a chance he'll head back to where he started.

That's interesting, I hadn't realized how banged up he has been in the past. Now that he's starting off fresh he might be in for one more solid season before Sproles takes over.

Darrius Heyward-Bey, OAK

1
Well, to the Raiders he has a lot to live up to. I'm not expecting much.
Discuss

Knowshon Moreno, DEN

1
I'm more concerned about the Denver defense. If they're behind by 14 every game, I don't think they'll be running much in the second half.
Discuss

Brett Favre, MIN

1
There's going to be a new rumor every day until the trade deadline ends, or until he signs with a team.

Mark Sanchez, NYJ

It sounds like Sanchez will be able to handle the pressure.

Shaun Hill may end up as starter for the 49ers. Whoever it is though will at least have a solid target to throw to.

Wow, I didn't realize he had a cracked him. The one word that I think of when I see Avery is "explosive" If he can get moer consistent he'll be an awesome fantasy receiver.

Mark Sanchez, NYJ

1
Sanchez has a lot of pressure to succeed. I'm not planning to draft him though. He may be able to win games for the Jets, but with no receivers to throw to his fantasy value isn't very high.

Matt Cassel, KC

2
Yeah, in his debut year he was a solid fill-in. I think he can make a significant leap this year. Definitely fantasy-worthy in my book.

Joseph Addai, IND

Yeah, I'm gonna wait and see how the reps look in preseason.

Brandon Marshall, DEN

When is Marshall's suspension going to be announced?

With Gonzo gone, I think Bowe is going to get more targets this year. With Cassel throwing to him now, it could be his breakout year.

Forte is looking forward to Cutler arriving. They may pass a little more than last year, but my guess is that Chicago stays run-first. Overall positive impact for Forte.
